Kvareli

Kvareli district, the left bank of the Alazani below the southern slope of the Kakhetian Caucasus, at about 450 m. The Bursa and Chagurgulatskali streams push large alluvial fans out towards the Alazani, and the vineyards of Kuchatani, Gavazi, Chikaani and Akhalsopeli sit on them. The wine is a dry red from Saperavi.

Kvareli is a dry red PDO from the Kvareli municipality in north-eastern Kakheti, made from Saperavi grown on the left bank of the Alazani. It is a large, well-established dry appellation whose supply broadly matches the zone; the wine should be Saperavi from the registered Kvareli zone.
