How we differ

getwine and Wine-Searcher: different questions about the same bottle

Wine-Searcher finds where to buy a wine and for how much. getwine explains what you are buying: who made the wine and what its medals are worth. Use both.

In short: which one when

Wine-Searcher is handier when

  • you want to compare shops' offers by price;
  • you need to find a bottle in shops across countries;
  • you want a summary of critics' scores;
  • you buy for export or a collection.

getwine is more useful when

  • you want local shop prices as a summary — median, range — and the price history without a subscription;
  • it matters who made the wine;
  • the label shows a medal and you wonder what it is worth;
  • you wonder what the year was like in that zone.

Our prices are for reference

We show what shops ask and when we saw it: median, range, history. Offers for one wine are listed from the lowest price up, so the spread is visible. We never say “a bargain” and do not turn a price into a verdict on the wine; a shop's place in the list is not for sale.
