Inner Kakheti, Gurjaani district: the north-eastern slope of the Tsiv-Gombori range on the right bank of the Alazani, at 350–750 m. One variety only — Saperavi. Mukuzani is a dry red, and the zone itself is small, about 246 hectares, covering Mukuzani, Zegaani and Dedoplis Zvari plus parts of Chumlaki, Velistsikhe and Vazisubani.

No known authenticity issues

Mukuzani is a dry red PDO from Kakheti (Gurjaani district), made from Saperavi and traditionally oak-aged for at least three years. It is a widely produced dry style whose supply broadly matches the zone, and it does not carry the over-supply concerns of the naturally-semi-sweet appellations, so no notable authenticity concern applies. As with any PDO, the wine should be Saperavi from the registered zone.
