About the variety
Chkhaveri is a pink-berried variety from Guria, grown also in Adjara; it was traditionally a tree-trained maghlari vine. It ripens very late — in Guria from the second half of November — and keeps fresh acidity at high sugar levels, so it is made as rosé, light red and sparkling wine, both dry and naturally semi-sweet. Its wines are delicate and moderate in alcohol.
